Basement Project Space presents an exhibition by Monique Besten and Alan James Burns, selected from an open call for submissions. Their work is the culmination of a 3 week residency responding to this years Art Trail theme ‘Rediscovering Locality’. Studios and exhibition Open 11am – 3pm from the 13th Nov – 22nd November.
Monique Besten’s work traverses installation, video and performance. Besten holds a B.A. in Fine Art, M.A. in History and currently lives and works in Amsterdam. Recent activity includes: Art project & Group exhibition New Riddles & Constellations I, II, III & IV, Amsterdam & Kolder- veen (NL), 2004 - ongoing. Solo exhibition Now Here, At Home Gallery, aŠ morín (SK) 2007. www.moniquebesten.nl Alan James Burns is a video installation artist living and working in Cavan and Dublin. Burns graduated with a 1st class honours BA in Fine Art from DIT in 2008 and his recent activities include: Generation – Project Art Centre, May 2009. Official opening of exhibition on Sunday 15th Nov at 5 pm until 7pm Basement Project Space is an artist-led space, located on Camden Quay, Cork City. Artists: Stephanie Hough, Lorraine McDonnell, Claire Murphy, Rachel McDonnell, Colm Madden, Paul Maguire.
